Greetings Friends:
This year we are targeting a down payment for a new ladder truck. The replacement cost for our 1999 Pierce aerial tower (bucket truck) is estimated to be near 2.5 million dollars. We are saving for a down payment and seeking other funding sources to initiate a contract to purchase.
Our ladder truck is currently the only apparatus in Washington County that has a basket (bucket) on the end of the aerial. Aside from structure fire, it is a specialized piece of equipment that can also be used for technical rescues and other high-angle emergencies.
The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway is a Private, non-profit service provided to the Community since 1949...
Our fire trucks and ambulances are staffed with both volunteer and career Firefighter -Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics from both Washington County Government and The Volunteer Fire Company of Halfway. We also provide home fire and medical inspections and public outreach events.
We depend on household donations to avoid expensive long-term financing to modernize our fire apparatus fleet. Although our operational costs are subsidized by Washington County Government, it is not enough funding to wholly replace the vehicle without financing. The cost of providing modern fire apparatus can be financially overwhelming.
We will be mailing our annual emergency medical subscription in April of 2026 and our property-based fire fund drive mailing in October of 2026.
